Planning & Booking
How do I book a tour with You First Tours?
Booking is easy! You can browse our standard Tour Packages and click the "Inquire Now" button, or use our "Tailor-Made Tour" form to submit your specific requirements. Once we receive your inquiry, our local experts will contact you within 24 hours to discuss the itinerary, adjust it to your preferences, and provide a final quote.
Can I customize my tour itinerary?
Absolutely. 100% of our tours can be customized. We believe in providing personalized experiences. If you want to spend more days on the beach, add a wildlife safari, or upgrade your hotel choices to luxury boutique villas, simply let us know, and we will adjust the itinerary accordingly.
Do I need a Visa to enter Sri Lanka?
Yes, most nationalities require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter Sri Lanka. You can easily apply for this online through the official government portal before your arrival. The process usually takes a few hours to a couple of days.
What is included in the tour package price?
Our standard packages usually include private air-conditioned transportation, an English-speaking chauffeur-guide, hotel accommodations with breakfast, and airport transfers. Entrance tickets to attractions (like Sigiriya or Yala Safari) can either be included in the final price or paid directly by you at the counter, depending on your preference.
Best Time to Visit & Weather
When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?
Sri Lanka is a year-round destination! The best time to visit the South and West coasts (Galle, Bentota) and the Hill Country is from December to April. If you are planning to visit the East coast (Trincomalee, Arugam Bay), the best weather is from May to September.
What clothes should I pack?
Light, breathable cotton or linen clothing is perfect for Sri Lanka's tropical climate. However, if you are visiting the Hill Country (Nuwara Eliya, Ella), you will need a light jacket or sweater as temperatures can drop significantly at night. When visiting temples, both men and women must wear clothes that cover their shoulders and knees.
Transportation & Guides
What type of vehicles do you use?
We use a modern fleet of fully air-conditioned, well-maintained vehicles. For couples or solo travelers, we use comfortable sedans (Cars). For families or small groups (3-6 people), we use spacious Mini Vans. For larger groups, we provide luxury Mini Buses or large Coaches.
Is it safe to travel in Sri Lanka?
Yes, Sri Lanka is generally a very safe destination for tourists, including solo female travelers and families. The locals are incredibly hospitable and friendly. Having a private chauffeur-guide from You First Tours adds an extra layer of security, as they will be with you throughout your journey to ensure you are comfortable and safe.
Will my driver speak English?
Yes, all our chauffeur-guides are fluent in English. They are highly experienced, certified by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board, and possess extensive knowledge about the island's history, culture, and wildlife.
Money & Payments
What currency is used in Sri Lanka?
The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). While major hotels and large restaurants accept USD, EUR, and credit cards (Visa/Mastercard), it is highly recommended to carry LKR for small purchases, street food, and tipping.
Are ATMs widely available?
Yes, ATMs are available in almost every town and city across the island. You can easily withdraw Sri Lankan Rupees using your international debit or credit card.
Is tipping expected in Sri Lanka?
Tipping is customary in Sri Lanka for good service. A 10% service charge is usually added to restaurant and hotel bills, but a small additional tip is appreciated. It is also standard practice to tip your chauffeur-guide at the end of your tour if you are happy with their service.
